Grassley Talks Looming Federal Funding Deadline, 'Keeping Drugs Out of School' Act

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley visited Des Moines on Monday to discuss the looming federal funding deadline and the “Keeping Drugs Out of School” Act.

Grassley, a Republican, said he is “hopeful” that Congress will reach a deal to avoid a government shutdown. He said he is “working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find a solution that will keep the government open and funded.”

Grassley also discussed his “Keeping Drugs Out of School” Act

The bill would provide $10 million in funding for grants to schools to help them prevent and respond to drug use.

Grassley said the bill is “needed to help our schools keep drugs out of the hands of our children.” He said drug use is “a serious problem in our schools, and we need to do everything we can to help our schools address it.”

Grassley said he is “hopeful” that the bill will be passed by Congress

He said the bill has “strong bipartisan support.”

Grassley also discussed other issues during his visit to Des Moines, including the upcoming midterm elections. He said he is “confident” that Republicans will keep control of the Senate.

Grassley said he is “looking forward to continuing to work on behalf of the people of Iowa in the Senate.”
