Six-Time World Snooker Champion Ray Reardon Dies at 91
Legendary Welshman Known as "Dracula" Passes Away
Former world snooker champion Ray Reardon, affectionately nicknamed "Dracula" for his widows peak hairline and prominent canine teeth, has died at the age of 91.
Reardon, who dominated the sport in the 1970s, passed away on July 20, 2024. The Welshman had previously been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
Reardon won six world championships between 1970 and 1978, a record that stood until Stephen Hendry surpassed him in 1999. He was also a 10-time winner of the UK Championship and a seven-time winner of the Masters.
Reardon was known for his aggressive and attacking style of play, and he was one of the most popular players on the circuit. He was inducted into the World Snooker Hall of Fame in 2004.
