Historic Mission Marks Milestone in Commercial Spaceflight
After years of preparation and anticipation, Boeing's Starliner spacecraft has successfully launched into orbit, carrying two NASA astronauts on a critical test flight. The Starliner spacecraft, designated as Crew Flight Test (CFT), lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 6:54 a.m. EDT on Thursday, May 25th. Astronauts Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Mike Fincke are aboard the spacecraft for a six-month mission to the ISS.
This is the first crewed mission for the Starliner spacecraft and the culmination of years of work by Boeing and NASA.
